Stations: | Objectives:Teams will use their K9's to locate either 1. Five Humans Remain sources. or 2. Live Victim in the quickest amount of time. Teams will pick only one of the two objectives. Handlers must notify judge of the Trained Final Response that their dogs will give when locating scent source and must raise their hands to reflect dogs alert. Teams will be given 3 minutes on each of the Human Remains portion. The Wilderness search will be given a maximum time of 30 minutes. Material Provided: -Two (2) search areas, approximately one acre each in size. - One human victim (live) in a 25 acre area, maps with boundaries and a known PLS site provided - Recently worn scent articles from victim, if needed Additional Material Required/Permitted (Not provided by organizers) -whatever equipment you would normally use to work your K9 Rules: -Each team will be provided similar areas to search. - Teams that fail to locate all FIVE scent sources and/or the live victim will fail. - Handlers that fail to alert the judge of dog's Final Response or end of search, will fail. - False or non productive Final Responses will fail the team. - Teams are allowed one restart at a penalty of one minute for the Human Remains Station or 5 minutes on the Wilderness station.. - Time starts when the dog leaves the handler's side at the PLS or search perimeter (HRD) |
