Litter Obstacle Course

Objectives: Teams will be required to negotiate a series of obstacles with a loaded litter.  Obstacles will be composed of trees, rocks, etc.  Teams will need to properly secure a load in a litter and then be prepared to lift, pass and at time crawl through difficult passages.  The course will be lined with flagging tape and specific obstacles will be numbered.  Teams members are expected to go through any obstacle the litter must go through.  If a teams steps off the lined course and chooses to by-pass an obstacle a time penalty will be given.  The team with the fewest penalties and fastest time wins this event.  Litters will be equipped with accelerometers to measure the handling performance of the team.  Teams will be penalized for rough handling of the litter.  Teams will have a maximum of 1 hour to complete the course.

 Material Provided:

-         Litter

-         2 x 25 foot section of 1” tubular webbing

 Additional Material Required/Permitted (Not provided by organizers)

-         UIAA approved helmet

-         Leather gloves

-         Teamwork

 Rules:

-         All “GENERAL RULES” apply.

-         Any use of unauthorized material will result in a time penalty of 60 minutes.

-         Any unsafe practice will result in time penalty or disqualification.  No running on the course is allowed.

-         Teams will be required to keep track of their time on task.

-         Stepping off the course will result in a time penalty of 5 minutes for each infraction.

-         By-passing an obstacle will result in a time penalty of 10 minutes.

-         Excessively rough handling of the litter as measured by the accelerometers will result in a time penalty of 10 minutes per instance.
